Former East York Councillor

I fully support Jennie Worden for City Councillor in Beaches-East York Ward 19. I have seen Jennie in action and I know she'll be an incredible representative for us. She has lived in East York for over a decade. She knows our community well - and has fought for the improvements people need and want. Jennie is in this race for the right reasons! Being city councillor is not a calling or a career choice - it is a hard job, that requires commitment, energy and solid values. Jennie knows we deserve a Councillor who is available - who listens, actually responds and gets things done. She will work with us, and for us.

City Councillor

Jennie Worden is an excellent tenant organizer. She helped build a stronger voice for tenants living in Dawes Road apartment buildings.  As a result of the organizing work with tenants and allied organizations, the City has undertaken repairs and prosecuted negligent landlords. Jennie would be a great addition to Toronto City Council.

I know what it takes to be a good city councillor. After all, I did the job for 12 years. It's also why I know Jennie has what it takes to be a great councillor. She's not going to City Hall to make up excuses about why things can't get done. In fact, I know Jennie is a tough fighter and she'll make sure every resident in every neighbourhood knows that she's got their back!

What makes Jennie Worden remarkable isn't just her fantastic connection to the BEY community but her courage to act on it. Whether she is fighting and winning for tenants' rights against predatory renovictions or standing with neighbours, local parents, and children as an unshakeable ally against homophobia, transphobia, and all forms of hate Jennie proves that true leadership begins with community care.

I support Jennie because she worked with me, my neighbours, and ACORN to hold a bad landlord accountable at 500 Dawes and win real policy victories at the City! Jennie's not just a political candidate - she's a leader rooted in our community. When she says she's committed, she means it. She's ready to fight for affordable, safe, and adequate housing. I know she will be a responsive, accessible, and accountable councillor who will answer and return our calls.

Founder, The Biking Lawyer

Jennie has the real world and life experience that BEY has been missing for so many years. On top of that, I have seen Jennie show up on the front lines for the people of this City, be it against hate groups or for safe infrastructure, Jennie has firm convictions and is committed to the issues she stands for. I’m pleased to support Jennie in her campaign to bring positivity and change to the residents of Beaches East York.

Former President, CUPE Ontario

The good people of our east-end communities need and deserve a representative who is deeply connected, hard working, caring, and truly progressive. Jennie Worden is that candidate. For Jennie, the desire to represent people at city hall has always been her first choice. After years of being ignored, people have a chance to elect a true champion. Vote Jennie Worden for Ward 19!

Jennie is exactly who we need at City Hall. I know she will fight for a city that reflects our diverse, progressive community. When I vote for Jennie, I'm voting for a strong fearless leader with a proven track record of standing up to greedy landlords, corporate interests, and unchecked developers. She is a relentless fighter that knows how to build collective power and put people first.

Secord neighbourhood parent

Jennie has already been doing the hard work for years in trying to improve communities across this ward. Currently, she is leading Secord Now, a local group fighting to rebuild Secord School and Community Centre. She recognizes that development intensification at Main & Danforth should be accompanied by better infrastructure to support the growing population. We need a councillor who is committed to get things done. Jennie is that person!

We're facing a cost of living crisis, and we need a Councillor who works at Council to make City services meet our needs. I know Jennie will be a needed voice for Beaches-East York that has been sorely missing at Council.

Jennie has always been committed to community service, especially through her lens as an artist and arts administrator. She has an eye on accessibility of the arts for all and the necessity for all humans to have the right and ability to express themselves.

Parent and Elementary School Teacher

I am supporting Jennie Worden for city councillor because it is time for Torontonians to stop dreaming so small. I have known Jennie for more than a decade and we have spent long conversations talking about my classroom and our decreasing ability to meet the needs of students, teachers and support staff in schools. Her ability to see the larger picture without losing track of the details will be essential if Toronto is going to push back against this provincial government. Jennie is an advocate for labour, showing up and speaking out for the rights of workers across sectors. She sees the needs of the public education and health care systems as deeply entwined in the wellness of the whole city. I am proud to be supporting Jennie Worden for city council in Beaches East York and encourage all my union colleagues to do the same.
