Canvassing is the single most effective way to help this campaign. It also happens to be one of the most fun things to do! We meet up and hit the pavement to talk to our neighbours and make real connections across Beaches-East York.
Team Jennie canvasses multiple times a week. You can come out once or make it a regular event in your schedule. Whatever works best for you! After you RSVP we'll reach out to confirm the precise meet-up location along with all the information you'll need.
If you've never canvassed before don't let that stop you from signing up now! Every canvass session starts with a training and newcomers will always be welcome to join us.

If you love the TTC as much as Jennie does then come out and share that passion as we make new connections and organize for a well funded, on-time, and safe public transit system in Toronto.

Come hangout with Jennie and friends every Thursday at East Lynn Park! Bring a book, a craft project, your burning questions about municipal politics and you're all set! This is a space for volunteers, those curious about Jennie's campaign, and supporters to come together and get to know each other better. This is not a canvass and there will be zero door-knocking. Grab a snack from the farmers market and come join us on the big pink picnic blanket as we build community and enjoy the vibes of East Lynn Park.

What is canvassing?
Canvassing is the primary way we connect with voters. During every canvass, a group of volunteers goes through a neighbourhood knocking on every door to talk to residents about the upcoming election, provide them with information about the candidate and her vision for Beaches-East York, and identifying who our supporters are so we can stay in touch until the election.
Does canvassing actually work?
Yes! It is by far the most effective form of outreach a campaign can do. Having a conversation, face-to-face is way more persuasive than a flyer dropped in a mailbox, a social media post, or an ad in the newspaper. It connects people to the campaign and, most importantly, to each other. There's nothing else like it.
What should I bring with me?
Dress comfortably and appropriately for the weather
Wear good and supportive shoes
A water bottle
Your cellphone and a battery pack (not necessary but recommended!)
A small backpack or tote bag for carrying your things
How will I know what to say?
Each canvass starts with a full training where one of our field leads will walk everyone through the canvass script, give you your flyer bundle, and give a summary of Jennie's Council Platform. We don't expect you to be an expert on all things municipal politics, what matters is that you speak authentically about why you're choosing to support Jennie!
Am I doing this alone?
Nope! Every canvass is done in a small group or in pairs. If it's your first time canvassing just let your canvass lead know and they'll get you paired up with a seasoned canvasser so you can shadow them for the first half of the session.
What if there's bad weather?
Someone from the field team will reach out to you to let you know if there is a change of plan. Usually if it's raining we will move the canvass indoors so don't let a gloomy forecast stop you from signing up!
